Plan B Pharmacy Action Campaign
After more than three years of delay, on August 24, 2006, the FDA finally agreed to allow adults 18 years of age and older to buy the emergency contraceptive pill, Plan B, without a prescription.  The manufacturer of Plan B began shipping it to pharmacies nationwide on November 1, 2006.  This is a step in the right direction for women's reproductive rights and the ability to prevent unintended pregnancies.  However, we need to make sure that women are aware of Plan B and that pharmacies dispense it.

Here's how you can help:

Visit local pharmacies
Visit your local pharmacy (or pharmacies) to see if they are stocking Plan B and complying with Illinois laws related to filling prescriptions for birth control.  The information you should collect can be found on our online form or by downloading a form here.  Once you have visited your pharmacy, please return the form to us via the online form, by emailing a copy of the paper form to us at info@ilchoiceactionteam.org, or by mailing the paper form to us at 559 W. Diversey #119 - Chicago, IL 60614.

Sign a petition telling pharmacy chains to stock Plan B
The Illinois Choice Action Team is working with NARAL Pro-Choice America to ensure that all pharmacies stock Plan B.  Sign the petition to urge national pharmacy chains to adopt a written public policy about stocking Plan B in all their pharmacy locations.

Take the Illinois Plan B Pledge
Pledge to only shop at pharmacies that stock Plan B.  Sign the pledge here.
